The tests are framed in the preparation plan to reach the Orlando ‘bubble’, where the regular season competition is going to restart, and they were made between June 24 and 29 to show 25 positive cases among players in a group of 351 that have been evaluated since the 23rd of last month.
The NBA previously reported the positive of the first 16 players.
The league also confirmed that 10 of the 884 staff members evaluated tested positive for the virus.
Anyone who tests positive for the coronavirus will stay on self-isolation until it complies with public health protocols and is authorized by a doctor.
The NBA season is slated to resume on July 30. with 22 teams held at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Training camps will take place from July 9 to 29, with 3 preparation matches per team.
The NBA Commissioner, Adam SilverHe said earlier this week that the league evaluates players daily and that it continues « pretty sure » about the initial plan to resume the season after making an investment of more than 150 million dollars.
Silver noted that every day they learn new things about the evolution of the coronavirus and therefore feel prepared to make the necessary changes in the established plans.
« We are conducting tests on a daily basis. We have not put a precise number, but if we had to see a large number of cases and see the spread in our community, that would be a cause to also stop the competition. «
In addition to hosting players and support staff from 22 teams at three Walt Disney World resorts, the league has organized 7 training pitches and matches will be played in 3 arenas during quarantine.
The NBA also provides meals, daily coronavirus testing, and other medical, safety, transportation, and entertainment support for more than 1,500 people during the competition.
