Fritz, Ph.D. at the University of Utah, and her colleagues. During that time, participants received treatment earlier than when they were enrolled and randomly allocated to Usual Care (UC). The treatment included a session of education or receipt of early physical therapy (EPT) that had a session of education, or four weeks of referral of physical therapy, exercise and manual therapy.

From the reference point to six months, partakers in the EPT group enjoyed extra recovery for the main result of the OSW rating, and many secondary results supported EPT.

  • Between the group, differences supported EPT for the OSW rating of the relative difference of -4.8 points.

  • The assessment of the UC group, with the EPT group, showed the likelihood of participants personally reporting the success of their treatment after a year. The score was 45.2% against 27.6%, with a relative risk of 1.6%.

According to the authors, the EPT group exhibited better extensive recovery in disability and back pain intensity throughout the follow-up periods.
