The San Sebastin International Film Festival will host, for the first time in its history, the premiere of a complete series at the Kursaal Auditorium in its Official Section. ‘Riot gear’, the series created by Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Isabel Pea and directed by Sorogoyen himself, will have its world premiere at the prestigious event, to be held from September 18 to 26.

It will be the third time that the director presents his work within the framework of the SSIFF, a festival that has always been characterized by betting on creation, regardless of the way in which it is expressed, and that in 2016 already rewarded the work of both creators with the Silver Shell for Best Screenplay for ‘May God forgive us’.

‘Riot gear’ It is an original production by Movistar + in collaboration with The Lab and Caballo Films. It is written by Isabel Pea, Eduardo Villanueva and Sorogoyen himself and starring Vicky Luengo, Ral Arvalo, Roberto lamo, Hovik Keuchkerian, lex Garca, Ral Prieto and Patrick Criado.

Sorogoyen return to San Sebastin to present his new work, ‘Riot gear’, a contemporary story that combines the vibrant action with the construction of the human portrait of its protagonists, a group of riot police and the Internal Affairs agent who investigates them.

The San Sebastin International Film Festival is shaping up to be the perfect setting for the world premiere of the series. In the words of its creators, Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Isabel Pea, « we are happy to return to Donosti. It is a benchmark festival for us always and it is an honor to participate in the Official Section along with so many names that we admire. We hope that our series It is at the height of the festival, especially in a year as relevant to cinema as this is. « 

For the festival’s director, Jos Luis Rebordinos, « ‘Riot gear’ is one of the series that has most impressed me in recent years. Above all, for its staging, the script and the work of the actors. When you see it On the big screen you completely forget that it was conceived for its premiere through a platform. Some of its sequences are for me some of the most impressive and best moments in Spanish cinema of recent times. « 

For Domingo Corral, director of original production at Movistar +, « we are very excited that ‘Riot Gear’ is part of the Official Section of the Donosti Film Festival and that it can be seen in its full length at the Kursaal. It is already the third Movistar original production series that is part of this section, and we live it again as a real privilege and also as a huge endorsement of the type of series we do because this Festival is one of the essential cinema dates of the year. «
