Today, September 8, is the day. D-Day indicated by various sources of greater or lesser prestige, ranging from Mark Gurman to Jon Prosser, through the myriad Twitter accounts that have sprung up in recent months and claim to know Cupertino’s plans. According to these sources, today we will see new Apple products. Or maybe Apple simply announces the date of its iPhone 12 event.
Whatever happens, it is no longer possible to back down.
One side that claims we will see new iPad Air and Apple Watch
Okay guys. Last tweet of the night. 👇
My sources are not budging or changing their mind.
They’re still telling me that Apple Watch and iPad Air are coming tomorrow via press release.
See you all in the morning to find out! 👋🤗
– Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) September 8, 2020
Just a few hours ago, Jon Prosser confirmed his previous bet. Today we should see the new fourth generation iPad Air and Apple Watch Series 6. According to the youtuber, its sources do not waver and they assure that Apple’s plans include launching both products today and announcing it via a press release. The chosen time seems to be 3:00 p.m. Spanish peninsular time, although from Applesfera we will be attentive to any changes on the Apple website.
Yesterday we could see how the stock of certain Apple products was starting to run low. Among them are normal iPads, iPad Air and Apple Watch Series 5. While the first two have deliveries for mid to late September, this is not the case with the Apple Watch Series 5. The latest model Apple watch (for now) has several models out of stock.
If launches were made, Apple would use the press release to communicate them and make them available on its website today
The Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to bring several interesting new features. Among them is a blood oxygen monitoring sensor, of great medical use to detect heart or respiratory problems. In the processor section, the Series 6 SoC would improve in performance and speed. And the battery may become slightly larger.
As for the fourth-generation iPad Air, the highlight is its design change. The frames would be reduced following the style of the iPad Pro, although without incorporating Face ID. Authentication would occur through the lock button, which would incorporate a version of Touch ID. In addition to this, USB-C connection, four microphones, two speakers and an LED flash complete what is expected.
The other side of the scale, an online event announcement
I wouldn’t get too excited about rumors of new Apple products appearing this week. More likely I think: an announcement of the upcoming (of course virtual) September iPhone / Apple Watch event.
– Mark Gurman (@markgurman) September 6, 2020
On the other side of the scale (some would say the ring), we have mark gurman. While Prosser has been right here and there, missing several of his predictions, Gurman is one of the most reliable leakers. And what counts causes less enthusiasm. For the Bloomberg journalist, Apple reserves the sending of invitations to its online event for today. One in which we would see the new generation of the usual suspects: Apple Watch Series 6 and iPhone 12, mainly.
Of course, it is convenient to look at the words chosen in your tweet. Gurman states “I think more likely”, so it is not a message from a source. Or at least, that’s the impression it gives, when instead Prosser does mention his sources and is forceful.
It is impossible to know which of the two communicators is correct, except for Apple’s executive team and marketing department, now in the hands of Greg Joswiak. There is also the possibility that today nothing happens and it is a normal day in the sphere of Apple. We only have to wait a few hours to find out.
