Netflix, the streaming video platform, achieved 1.54 million new subscribers globally in the second quarter of the year, which represented the lowest figure since 2013; however, it has a total of 209.18 million users around the world, according to its financial report.
From May to June of this year, the company fell 61.3 percent in the number of subscribers compared to the first three months of 2021.
In an annual comparison, during the second quarter of 2020, a period in which a large part of the confinement due to the covid-19 pandemic was experienced, Netflix reported 10.09 million new customers.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s revenues increased 19 percent annually in the second quarter of the year, equivalent to 7 thousand 340 million dollars; while the net profits totaled 1,353 million dollars.
In the report, the firm expects to be able to increase the number of subscribers during the third quarter of the year, placing its estimate at 3.5 million users.
The platform also seeks to diversify and will hire a person in charge of video games.
