Turkey defeated Sweden, 88-80, on Saturday at Istanbul nearing a EuroBasket berth and pushing the opponents to the brink of elimination. Youngster Alperen Sengun left his mark on the EuroBasket Qualifiers Group D affair with a 24-point, 12-rebound double-double to go along with three assists, two steals, and one block. Jonas Jerebko in his national team return scored a team-high 21 points for the visitors.

Netherlands defeating Croatia in the second BJK Akatlar Arena match will clinch both the Oranje and Turkey. Sweden needs the advanced Croatians to prevail and a win of its own versus the Netherlands on Monday to progress to the final stage of the EuroBasket.

Belgium punched in its ticket off the victory, 88-65, over Denmark at Vilnius. Retin Obasohan stood out with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists. He was 8/11 from the field, including 3/3 from beyond the arc.

The other Group C tilt pits Lithuania against the Czech Republic. The hosts aim to gain a one-win advantage over Denmark in the race for the last advancing spot of Group C ahead of their direct collision on Monday.

At Riga, Latvia will host Bulgaria. The national team with the home advantage can clinch with a win by a margin greater than six points, while the visitors simply need the W. A win for Latvia by six or fewer points will keep both in the hunt until Monday’s closing contests.

The first Group H match featured two sides already progressed with Bosnia and Herzegovina getting the best of Greece, 84-60. Emir Sulejmanovic packing a 23-point, 13-rebound double-double was the top performer.

Also, Ukraine beat Slovenia, 70-65, in the only Group F game of the day at the Kiev bubble. Jerome Randle got 24 points for the hosts.
