Andrew Bogut, a former NBA champion and one of the greatest Australian players of all time, announced his retirement from professional basketball at age 36. The pivot last played with the Golden State Warriors in 2019.

The decision has not been easy, but I think it is the right oneBogut said on his Rogues Bogues podcast. “The decision I made about where he will play next season is nowhere at all. I will retire from professional basketball, effective immediately. ” The podcast had previously joked on Twitter that Bogut would announce which team he was signing for.

Bogut mentioned that he hoped to play in the Tokyo Olympics and participate in his fourth Olympic tournament after those in Athens, Beijing and Rio.

“We are at the end of November. I would have made this decision earlier if it weren’t for the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics, “said Bogut. “I was hoping to get to the 2020 Olympics and finish my career after that, as it would have been a great prize to play a fourth Olympics, but it’s not meant to be.”

Throughout a career, which began with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005 after they chose the first draft pick, Bogut played in the NBA for 13 consecutive seasons. He also went through the Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Warriors, with whom he won the championship in 2015.
