Miguel Oliveira takes the last race and Joan Mir leaves

Miguel Oliveira has won the MotoGP Portuguese GP. The Portuguese rider did not give his rivals any option, and shot alone from the beginning. Morbidelli and Miller could do nothing to prevent it, the Portuguese was hanging around much faster than them. It was worth it for the Italian to stay on the podium to be runner-up in the world, and he did.

Meanwhile, Joan Mir, who was already world champion, advanced positions after a great start. The Suzuki rider seemed to have overcome the problems he had in qualifying, which caused him to start so far behind. Everything pointed to the fact that he could star in a great comeback, in the purest Marc Márquez style, but then he played with Zarco and lost everything he had won.

From there the problems began for the Spanish, who ended up quitting with 10 laps to go. Luckily for him he already had the championship in his pocket, although he leaves with a bittersweet taste after a grand prize to forget. It could not help Suzuki to get the constructors’ championship and Ducati has taken the title, while KTM has snatched that second position from the Japanese brand in this last test.

His teammate, Álex Rins, did not have a good day either and finished fifteenth, just behind Fabio Quartararo. Dovizioso was about to snatch third place in the World Cup from Rins, but he was finally sixth and the Catalan ends the season on the podium of the general classification. The best Spanish was Pol Espargaró, who finished fourth after a great race.

So that, MotoGP closes a season that, at the beginning of the year, in Qatar, there were many doubts about whether it could be carried out or not. Finally, it was possible to carry out and Joan Mir has won the championship. In addition, it is a farewell race as many drivers will change their scene in 2021.
