Al Rojo Vivo already has a new face, at least temporarily. The host is Mexican journalist Rebeka Smyth, who worked as a Telemundo news correspondent from New York.

Since Monday, Smyth has been on the set where María Celeste Arrarás reigned until her unexpected dismissal last week.

“What a pleasure to be able to accompany my dear Jessica Carrillo in Al Rojo Vivo and to be able to be with you at home. Join us, « the journalist invited from her Instagram profile on Tuesday.

Smyth is sharing the host of the afternoon magazine with Jessica Carrillo, who is pregnant. It was widely considered that she would be the one to replace María Celeste, but her status indicates that she will have to leave the program very soon to take maternity leave.

The question everyone is asking is if Smyth is just a temporary replacement or if he is on probation to see how the public receives it in a position that María Celeste held for almost 20 years, who had even managed to add her name to the show.

The Telemundo network did not respond to an email from the Nuevo Herald about whether Smyth is the official host of Al Rojo Vivo.

For his part, Smyth posted a comment on Instagram confirming that he has settled in Miami.

“You make plans and life will laugh at them. Be clear about your goals, but always let life surprise you. Enjoying my new city like crazy, « he wrote at the bottom of a photo of himself with downtown in the background, in which he used #miami as a hashtag.

Smyth has stood out as an interviewer in exclusives such as the one Telemundo presented in December 2018 with Emma Coronel, wife of “El Chapo” Guzmán. Before coming to the network, he worked for CNN in Mexico.

She is also the author of the book Emotional Bitch: A path to emotional consciousness, published in 2019, in collaboration with Lilia Díaz, a material that is partly based on her experience.

Carrillo was in charge of welcoming Smyth to the space, indicating that the journalist would accompany her this week.

Carrillo also shared Arrarás’ farewell to the air last week with Myrka Dellanos.

Dellanos, who hosted Al Rojo Vivo with María Celeste in recent months, resigned from the program in solidarity with her friend also last week, pushing the limit of the contract she had with Telemundo.

« My time in Al Rojo Vivo also comes to an end very soon and I am happy to be by your side at this moment, » Myrka wrote on her Instagram profile, at the bottom of a photo with Arrarás.
