Mercedes C-Class 2021, the fifth generation more technological and efficient arrives

The fifth generation of the Mercedes C-Class has just been unveiled. The new saloon, and the wagon, are presented with a completely new design, a more modern makeover and with the clear heritage of the S-Class, more sporty and modern inside and out, abundant technology and an efficient range of engines.

Two and a half years is the time that the star brand has accumulated in the development and fine-tuning of the new Mercedes C-Class Saloon, with hundreds of spy photos that we have shown you during its different phases, with some interesting exclusives in between. The MercedesClass C 2021 it is ready to go to dealerships.

Fifth generation that radically changes image, as used by Mercedes. The C-Class is committed to following the same line as the rest of the model in the range, in addition to offering more interior space thanks to a revision of the measurements, with some dimensions that you can see detailed below. A slight increase that translates into an extra 35 millimeters of space for rear passengers, and also in the trunk volume.

Officially approved measurements of the new Mercedes C-Class Saloon 2021

One more step in the ‘Sensual Purity’ design philosophy, which has rejuvenated the Mercedes range. The C-Class follows the usual tradition of inheriting the styling of the flagship, with a sharper and sportier front end, the standard Full LED headlights arranged horizontally, narrower, with the characteristic light signature on the upper edge and the more prominent radiator grille and with a more angular design. A large star in the center will be supported by one or two horizontal chrome slats.

Mercedes has also brought an extra touch of sportiness, with some marked ribs on the engine hood, two lines running lengthwise on the panel, attractive “powedomes” that are a standard among the three available equipment lines. At the opposite extreme, the rear has also been revamped, with a new driver design.

Inside, the 2021 C-Class also represents a new point with a large screen for instrument cluster, 10.25-inch, and one new touch screen that occupies the space of the center console and part of the transmission tunnel. As standard, it is 9 inches and optionally 11.9 inches, both turned 6º towards the driver and with the second generation of the MBUX system. The two screens will have a lower section of more classic buttons for the automatic climate control, being integrated into the platform if the optional “Thermotronic” is included.

The German firm maintains the ability to Level 2 semi-autonomous driving in safety assistantsAlthough the model will offer top-notch equipment, generally optional. These include advanced autonomous parking assist, “Digital Light” headlights, and recalibrated Adaptive Cruise Control and Emergency Brake Assist that allow the airbags to deploy more quickly.

The list of options also adds a Larger Head-up Display with Augmented Reality, heated, air-conditioned and massage front seats, and active rear-wheel steering, which they will turn a maximum of 2.5º in the opposite direction to the front at a speed of 80 km / h. A feature limited to driving dynamics, and which will not be available as part of the parking attendants.

The new Mercedes C-Class will be offered with a full range of 10 mechanical versions, comprising gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrids, rear-wheel drive and 4MATIC full, all with “9G-Tronic” automatic transmission, detailed below, and also all with 48 Volt electrified technology. A starter and generator device that will allow an extra 20 or 36 hp, depending on the version, thanks to an “overboost” function for a maximum of 30 seconds.

Plug-in hybrids correspond to «C 300 e” Y “C 300 of», One with each fuel, with a new electric motor of 110 kW -150 CV- and with a lithium-ion battery that provides a gross capacity of 26 kWh for a maximum range of 100 kilometers. These versions will arrive early 2022.
