Sainz: “Let’s see the weather, we could have an interesting classification tomorrow”
Norris: “It was not an easy day, but we are in a good position”
McLaren has shown his credentials this Friday in free practice. Those of Woking have made it clear that their MCL35 has the potential to reach Q3 with both cars and tomorrow they will seek to meet that objective in a classification that for the moment seems unpredictable. Lando Norris has been penalized and will start three positions further back, so Carlos Sainz must assume command of the team tomorrow.
Carlos Sainz (7th / 5th):
“Repeating Grand Prix on the same circuit for the second consecutive weekend has helped us compare the settings. We have made some experimental changes to end the balance issues I had last week. Several changes have been positive, but others have not, so we have to analyze them for the classification. ”
“It was a special Friday, in which we were in fear of a possible cancellation of the classification. Many of the drivers have come out with new tires to do a great lap in case the flies. Let’s see what the weather says, but we could have an interesting classification tomorrow. ”
Lando Norris (14th / 8th):
“I had a difficult day today and I could not complete all the laps I wanted due to some problems. Yes, the car is quite good and I think we have a good pace. I also think that other teams have raised their level compared to last week, and I think everything can be tighter tomorrow and Sunday. ”
“We are in a good position for tomorrow and also for the race on Sunday. The car is good and I am very confident, but the chances are that the conditions are not the same, so we must be prepared for it”.
Andrea Stella, sports director:
“We had a great performance and two good results last weekend, but we also realized that the competition is fully matched and that we need any extra thousandth of improvement to go far both in qualifying and in the race.”
“The car went well today, and we have successfully completed the program, both on the track and at the factory. We think we don’t have much to improve tonight for tomorrow, and the only negative has been the three-place penalty Lando has received. However, we are confident that we can do very well in tomorrow’s qualification, whatever the conditions. ”
