Marbella becomes the home of the lower categories of the Spanish National Team

Marbella will become, hereinafter, at the official venue of the concentrations of the Spanish soccer teams of the lower categories of men and women. This decision was ratified this Friday in the city of Malaga with the signing of this protocol by the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, the Marbella mayor, Angeles Muñoz, and the president of the Malaga Provincial Council and Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, at the “El Hospitalillo” Cultural Center.

The Marbella Football Center will therefore become in the reference facility to host the determined soccer concentrations, which are also extended to futsal and beach soccer and can also be opened to non-professional soccer competitions.

Also, both Marbella, as Costa del Sol Tourism, in addition to being the official headquarters of these categories, will be collaborating brands of the Under 21 Men’s National Team and lower categories of the RFEF, as well as its Non-Professional Competitions.

Thanks to this agreement, which has been initially signed for three years, another series of actions will also be developed, in such a way that The RFEF will advise the City Council on the design and construction of sports facilities so that they can host international competitions. Likewise, whenever possible, players from the different national teams may hold talks for schools or meetings at local clubs, in their sports facilities.

Ángeles Muñoz, Mayor of Marbella, has indicated that the Under 21 National Team will feel at home. «Marbella opens up to that possibility that the RFEF offers to be the home of those under 21s over the next few years, ”he commented.

For his part, Luis Rubiales, added that «The image of the lower categories of the National Team is associated with the Costa del Sol and Tourism, and we have to be grateful for that because in this agreement the Diputación and the City Council have been fundamental. We will make a path together. Here is a commitment to sport ».

Finally, Francisco Salado, President of the Malaga Provincial Council, highlighted that future stars of Spanish football will be able to enjoy thanks to a win-win agreement: «We are going to bring the future stars of the National Team to the Costa del Sol.
