With the release of sports training by government agencies, Macaé Esporte accelerated the planning of the football department for the return of the Carioca Championship. Next Monday, the board will submit all athletes, members of the coaching staff and employees to the Covid-19 rapid test. After complying with the safe play protocol, the board intends to restart face-to-face activities.

The football department’s idea is to form the base of the team with the players who had already been working before the stoppage and reinforce the group with some specific pieces. Immediately, five U-20 players will be promoted: Lindemberg, Daniel, Richard, Cristiano and Antônio arrive to strengthen the squad.
Among the names, striker Antônio, only 16 years old and passing through the Fluminense base, has stood out and acts as a typical shirt 9. The player is inspired by the good numbers of also striker Matheus Babi, who was recently negotiated with Botafogo , to win an opportunity in the main team.
– I am very happy with this opportunity, I know that with humility and hard work, I am able to help the team. Babi came from the base, like me, and helped Macaé a lot. I will work to earn my space. I’m young and I don’t want to grow, Macaé is a strong team and I know the responsibility of wearing that shirt – said the young striker.
If, on the one hand, COVID-19 hindered the smooth running of the Carioca Championship and has been causing sadness for everyone, for Antônio the stoppage was beneficial, since in the meantime he completed the minimum age to debut among the professionals. The player celebrates the opportunity and does not forget the lessons he received in the under-20.
– I am inspired by a former soccer player who is now a sports manager, Hildebrando Gonçalves Rodrigues, Del (who is also a director at Macaé base), who has been coordinating the inter Milan sporting project for over 24 years here Brazil in several needy communities and that through the project has given opportunity to many boys. I trained with him, and I was always educated to be an athlete and a good citizen. Thank you for having Del as a source of inspiration in life and football – he said.
While face-to-face activities do not return, Antônio continues to train in Angra dos Reis alongside his 19-year-old brother Cristiano, who debuted at Macaé professional in the Guanabara Cup, against Flamengo, in Maracanã. Concerned about the future in football, the two hired a coach to work on the physical and technical fundamentals. Just arrived from China, where he worked in the grassroots categories of Guangdong FA, from Guangzhou, Naudemir Salles highlighted the importance of work in this moment of football stoppage.
– I have done a strong job with both and the response has been very positive, both physically and technically. I’m sure that Antônio and Cristiano will arrive very well after this break. I try to make the most of them. I see a lot of potential.
