M1 chip outperforms GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and Radeon RX 560 in graphics performance

Today, the first ARM-based Macs have started reaching Apple customers around the world. Inside, we will not find the A12Z that the transition kit carried with it or that this year’s iPad Pro has. It will be the new SoC M1 that will provide these new computers all the power and efficiency you need to fulfill any task.

Thus, with the arrival of the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini, users have started to test the new chip. And, as expected, the first acid tests have been the classic benchmarks. And although their results are not representative of the real performance of computers, the truth is that they have attracted a lot of attention, especially in terms of graphics performance.

According to the data that Apple provided in the last presentation event, the M1 has an eight-core GPU with a processing capacity equivalent to 2.6 TFLOPS. This figure does not tell us much, but the results that the new computers have given in GFXBench help us to get a much clearer idea. The M1 chip, according to the information shared by MacRumors, would be above dedicated graphics chips like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or the AMD Radeon RX 560.

If we take into account that we are comparing two dedicated graphics with one integrated in a SoC, it is quite spectacular. And we are talking about a chip in which we not only find this GPU, but also the CPU, the unified memory, and a neural engine, in addition to the different integrated coprocessors. A true statement of intent from Apple.

In any case, and leaving these technical tests aside, now is the time to see if the new computers are able to meet expectations. Although, judging from what we have seen already, it seems that they will be able to do it without any problem.
