Llanera will receive Celta and Loyalty will face Alcorcón in the Cup

The draw for the first round of the Copa del Rey, held yesterday in Seville, provided the rivals of the four Asturian teams for a single match, to be played on December 16. Llanera, the only Asturian Third Division team in the draw, will face Celta, a First team, while Loyalty will face Alcorcón, Second.

The two Asturian Second Division teams, Sporting and Oviedo, were paired with two Third Division rivals. The blues will travel to Cáceres to face Coria, while the rojiblancos will travel to Cuenca to face Quintanar del Rey.

Llanera was the most fortunate in the draw, as they will face a First Division team, Celta. The team’s coach, José Luis Rodríguez did not hide his satisfaction: “Celta is a historic First Division team. This is what we asked for, to be able to measure ourselves against a category rival. Now we have to prepare well to stand up to them and try to pass the tie “.

The Llanera coach considers that the fact of being a one-game tie, “gives us options to pass. It is not the same to play two games, so our chances would be minimal. We have our options and it is clear that we are going to try to pass the tie. ” The coach hopes that fans will be allowed into the match. “It would be desirable, even with limited capacity, although the first thing is to always respect health recommendations.” José Luis Rodríguez stated that the team’s priority “is the League, since our goal is promotion, but we are going to try to eliminate Celta.”

For his part, the president of Lealtad, Fran Cabal, the team that will face Alcorcón de Segunda, said that “playing at home was our priority and doing so against a team from the Professional Football League leaves us satisfied.” It will be the Maliaians’ fourth participation in the Cup and Fran Cabal hopes “to have the possibility of fans in the stands, at least the members. It would be good news for everyone because that would mean that the health situation would be improving ”. Fran Cabal indicated that the game has to be played early in the afternoon, as there is no artificial light and stressed that the goal of Loyalty “is to achieve permanence in Second B, but that does not mean that we will throw away the Cup. We play at home and with all due respect to the rival, we do not consider anything lost. Furthermore, the Copa del Rey is a very important economic lifeline and we are going to do everything possible to continue in the competition ”.
