McGregor is multi-time UFC champion: mixed martial arts
This curious combination of athletes took place in a gym in Monaco
And when it seemed that 2020 could not get any weirder, Daniil Kvyat has shown on social networks that today he has done a training in a gym in Monaco with the mixed martial arts champion Conor McGregor in preparation for next week’s Russian GP , your home run.
McGregor, who less than 24 hours ago has admitted to being “devastated” after being formally accused of committing at least one sexual assault, is just 32 years old and is formally retired from the UFC although he had already retired in the past. He is the first fighter in history to hold titles in different categories at the same time and has been a controversial character in recent years.
Despite the news of the last hours, the Irishman has shown himself in public at The Forge gym in Monaco where it turns out that Daniil Kvyat was also training, who like most Formula 1 drivers, resides in the small Côte d’Azur country.
Along with them, the Italian Federico Vella, world champion of kick boxing in category K1, has also posed in the boxing ring of said facilities.
“It was great meeting McGregor,” Kvyat explained. “Great person and a great fighter.”
This is how Kvyat prepares for a second half of the championship that is especially interesting for the young Russian driver who at 26 years of age sees his presence threatened in Formula 1 in 2021 if Red Bull –and Honda– want to have the Japanese and F2 rookie Yuki Tsunoda alongside Pierre Gasly at AlphaTauri next year.
Ahead of his local GP next week in Sochi, Kvyat has 10 points under his belt while ranking 14th in the Drivers’ World Championship. Gasly is 10th with 43 units in his locker. Despite this, Kvyat has beaten Gasly in four of the nine races held in 2020.
