According to Deadline, Emmy-winning actor Keegan-Michael Key (‘Playing with Fire’) has been cast as one of the leads of the ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ prequel to be developed by Warner Bros. Pictures.‘Wonka’. The actor, whose character is currently unknown, will accompany Timothe Chalamet (‘Call Me by Your Name’) in the only role of Willy Wonka.
It will be the first time that the Oscar-nominated actor will sing and dance on screen due to the musical numbers that we will see in the prequel. Directed by Paul King (‘Paddington 2’), the story will be scripted by Simon Rich, Simon Stephenson, Jeff Nathanson and Steven Levenson. Courtenay Valenti (‘Mad Max: Fury Road’) will supervise for Warner Bros. this project centered on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the most famous chocolate factory in the world.
