Jenson Button returns to F1 with Williams

Williams announced the hiring of Jenson Button as a consultant in this adventure of the team that begins with new owners and without the management of the Williams family.

Whoever won the Top Category drivers’ championship in 2009 with the BrawnGP team, thanked the gesture and indicated that he is returning “home”.

The Englishman was directly hired by Frank Williams in 2000, thus making his F1 debut. Subsequently, he was parading in the Benetton / Renault, BAR, Honda, McLaren and BrawnGP teams.

“When I was 19, it was a life-changing moment, and even though it was more than 20 years ago, I feel like I never left. Sir Frank Williams showed faith in me, for which I will be forever grateful and incredibly excited to have the opportunity to return and help the team in their fight for success once again. There is a lot of work to be done, but I have no doubt that the future is incredibly bright for this fantastic team and I can’t wait to start, ”said the former British rider.

According to a statement from the Williams F1 Team, “Having achieved 15 wins and 50 podiums throughout his F1 career, Button brings with him a wealth of experience that is applicable both on and off the track.”

This support translates into total advice for the racing team on and off the track, in addition to the management of the drivers involved.

Jost Capito, Team Principal, commented, “Bringing Jenson back on is another positive step in helping us move forward as a team, both on and off the track. Jenson has always been a friend of the team, so it’s great to welcome him back to the Williams family. ”
