It’s over! Trump leaves the White House by helicopter

Donald trump left the White House on Wednesday, a few hours after ceasing to be United States’s president.

Trump left the building accompanied by Melania Trump, his wife, and they both crossed the south lawn to board the Marine One. He said, “It has been a great honor, the honor of a lifetime.”

Later, he went to the Joint Base Andrews in the Maryland suburbs, where he had a military farewell. A red carpet was laid out on the runway for Trump to walk on while boarding the plane. Four US Army guns readied for a 21-gun salute.

His daughters and sons attended the event and, at the end, the YMCA was sung, the musical theme of Village People who accompanied him in most of his events.

Later, he went to Florida, where he will stay in Mar-a-Lago.

He will not attend Joe Biden’s inauguration as the new US president. It is the first time in more than a century that a sitting president has rejected the tradition of attending the inauguration of his successor.
