As part of the commemoration of International Women’s Day, the National Electoral Institute will hold a forum for reflection and dialogue on the exercise of political and electoral rights of women in violence-free contexts, in which testimonies and achievements of candidates representing priority attention groups will be analyzed.
In the event, called “Political and electoral rights of women. Towards an electoral process 2020-2021 with equality, parity and inclusion ”, will participate rInstitution representativess such as the National Institute of Women, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation.
Representatives of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, in addition to civil society organizations, such as the « Network We Have Other Data » and the « Colectivo Constituents CDMX ».
The inauguration of the aforementioned forum will be held virtually next Monday, March 8 at 12:00, to continue with two discussion panels on the previous experiences of women participating in politics and the challenges they have for the 2021 electoral process.
The objective of the event, according to the invitation signed by the President of the INE, Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, and the President of the Commission for Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination, Carla Astrid Humphrey Jordan, is to strengthen « the commitment of the institutions of the Mexican State in favor of women for the construction of an inclusive democracy. »
