Indian Motorcycle celebrates 100 years of the Chief

To celebrate 100 years of the iconic Indian Chief, the North American motorcycle brand, Indian Motorcycle introduced three new models for its 2022 lineup.

They are the Indian Chief, Indian Chief Bobber and Indian Super Chief, combining iconic American V-twin styling with modern technology and top performance.

The new Chief harks back to the glory days of the American V-twins. While the Chief Bobber features large tires that wrap around the spoke wheels, a muscular front end, and a bobber bucket seat. The model pays aesthetic homage to classic postwar V-twins, modified and trimmed by military veterans and “blue-collar” rebels.

For its part, the Super Chief has saddlebags and a windshield that offer more versatility. Its design is perfect for motorcyclists who travel many kilometers. These renewed versions are based on a classic frame of welded steel tubes. The range features a 15.1-liter gas tank, bobber-style trimmed rear fender, two external rear shocks with preload adjustment, dual exhaust, LED lighting, keyless ignition and Pirelli Night Dragon tires.

In addition to automatic speed control, the throttle response can be adjusted by selecting one of three driving modes: sport, standard or tour.

With a 1.62 meter wheelbase, 662 mm seat height and a weight of just 304 kilos, the new Indian Chief range inspires confidence when driving long distances. The history of the iconic Indian Chief dates back to 1921. Since its launch it has become one of the most influential motorcycles of all time. That unit, known as the Indian Big Chief, was a 1,213 cc motorcycle and today they are only found in museums or in the hands of collectors around the world.
