Huawei Mate X2, the new folding smartphone of 2,800 dollars

While Apple followers settle for concepts and leaks of a supposed foldable iPhone scheduled for 2022, other brands continue to take risks with the development of foldable devices, showing interesting developments. Despite all the difficulties against, this Monday Huawei has released the new Mate X2, in an event held in China.

The 2019 successor to the Mate X has received a radical redesign and now features a large 8-inch uninterrupted display that folds inward, instead of having the main screen on the outside, as in the original device. This and all the features, for the substantial sum of $ 2,800.

Huawei presents its second folding mobile

As disclosed in the device presentation, the main screen uses a 180Hz screen with an 8: 7.1 aspect ratio, and when the phone is folded, it can be used a second screen 6.45-inch on the outside, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold design.

Both displays have a wide range of colors and an ultra-low reflection feature that exceeds the reflectance level of Apple’s Pro Display XDR.

A new multi-dimensional hinge design allows for a ‘seamless’ fold and without space, using a cavity in the shape of a drop of water that houses the fold inside. Its double-spiral structure is made of high-intensity steel that “eliminates the problem of screen wrinkles” and also allows for a 40% flatter panel design.

The Mate X2 launches in China on February 25, available with storage from 256GB to 512GB. Considering the restrictions on Huawei’s smartphone division, the Mate X2 is unlikely to be available outside of China and especially in the United States.

In any case, The Mate X2 will launch without support for Google applications or services, which will likely limit its appeal in other countries.

If you do not resolve your situation with the United States government, Huawei’s apparent advantage could be surpassed soon.

Since January of this year, it has been claimed that Apple is testing two prototype foldable iPhones. which had passed internal testing, suggesting that it could be launched in late 2022 or 2023.
