This Tuesday Apple held an event through which it unveiled its new smart devices, including the renewed Apple Watch and also its new line of iPad tablets.
The new iPad Air, fourth generation, comes with a new design in its range, very similar to the 11-inch iPad Pro launched in 2018. The main button has been removed but users can unlock it through the fingerprint sensor located on the power button.
The device has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and comes with the new A14 Bionic chip with ARM architecture, a size of 5nm that is, according to Apple, 40% faster than the A13 Bionic. Its processor allows, for example, to record a video in 4K and edit it on the same computer. Apple also claims that it offers improved graphics performance and machine learning.
As far as cameras are concerned, it has a 7 megapixel front with the possibility of recording at 1,080p at 60 frames per second. At the rear it has a single 12 MP lens that can record in 4K at 60 frames per second. It should be noted that, unlike the Pro models, it does not have a flash.
Something that the brand highlights is that the new iPad Air arrives in various colors: sky blue, green, rose gold, silver and space gray. It is also compatible with the Apple Brush and the Magic Keyboard, it also has high quality stereo speakers. And, thanks to its USB-C connector, it is compatible with external accessories.
It comes in two versions: Wi-Fi and LTE. “IPad Air comes with blazing-fast Wi-Fi 6 and LTE3, allowing you to connect even without Wi-Fi,” says Apple. The brand also highlights that the equipment is made of 100% aluminum.
The price, according to the Apple portal in Mexico goes from 16 thousand 499 pesos to 20 thousand 699.
8th generation iPad
The new generation of the classic model of this tablet that just turned 10 years old features the Bionic A12 chip that, according to Apple, offers 40% more CPU performance and up to two times more graphics performance than the previous version. In fact, the brand claims that its basic iPad is up to three times more powerful than the best-selling Android tablet and up to two times more powerful than the best-selling Windows laptop.
The new iPad has support for iPadOS, Apple Pencil and keyboard. Its screen is 10.2 inches and has the traditional home button with TouchID.
The company highlights that its augmented reality capabilities will provide new experiences for users that can be especially valuable for education.
The tablet, which weighs less than 500 grams, is compatible with Xbox wireless controllers with Bluetooth and PlayStation DualShock. It has an 8 MP rear camera, with machine learning technology to improve photos. It also has a stereo audio system and its battery, Apple notes, lasts up to 10 hours on a single charge.
It will be available in silver, space gray and gold, in capacities of 32 or 128 GB, and in versions of Wi-Fi only or with LTE connectivity. The prices announced on Apple’s website in Mexico are 8,999 pesos for the model with Wi-Fi and 32 GB of storage, while the most expensive device with 128 GB memory and LT network costs 11,699 pesos. However, the availability date has not yet been confirmed.
