It’s been a busy week (with tons of announcements from BlizzCon today), so let’s round it out with another batch of video game news before the weekend. Capcom has announced new digital events for Monster Hunter Anniversary Week, Hideo Kojima’s influencer book The Creative Gene is coming to the West, Valheim continues to triumph, and much more. These are the video game news that you may have missed on February 19, 2021.
Monster Hunter Anniversary Week digital events planned for March
Today, Capcom announced a series of Monster Hunter Anniversary Week digital events in anticipation of the release of Rise and Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. On March 8 at 6 am PT / 9 am ET, we will have a Monster Hunter digital event. The next day, March 9, at 6 am PT / 9 am ET, a new Rise game sample will air, complete with tutorials and a Q&A session from the director. (If you reply to the tweet thread below, the editor might be able to answer your question.) Finally, on March 11, Capcom will host a live broadcast for the community, so there’s a lot to look forward to.

Konami has launched an online store
Out of nowhere, Konami has launched a new online store with items from its most famous franchises, such as Metal Gear, Castlevania and PES, among others. Konami’s official store has pretty much everything you can expect, like t-shirts and mugs, as well as a 20% discount on the grand opening sale. If Konami released more games, we’d be in business …

Valheim has reached 3 million copies sold
There seems to be no one to stop Iron Gate, as their new survival game Valheim has reached another sales milestone, surpassing 3 million copies sold. The team had just celebrated its 2 million sales milestone last week, and now it has even more to be proud of. Valheim is currently available in Early Access on Steam for $ 19.99.

Chun-Li and Ryu arrive at Fortnite
Fortnite will have a Street Fighter crossover event with new Chun-Li and Ryu skins to unlock, among other cosmetics. Details on the event are still scant, but Fortnite is already announcing what’s to come. If you go to a point south of Sweaty Sands, you will find a portal that will allow you to see the famous level of Ryu’s Suzaku Castle. It is not clear when the event will begin, but it is likely to be soon.

Hideo Kojima’s book The Creative Gene is about his influences and his creative process
Hideo Kojima has partnered with Viz Media for his new book, The Creative Gene. The book will focus on Kojima’s influences, as well as his creative process, and will be released on October 12, 2021. It includes essays written by Kojima exploring the media that have influenced him the most. In it, the influences of Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid, among others, will be explained.
