HBO Max makes serial order to DMZ, adaptation of DC Comics comic

The civil war will be officially fought in HBO Max: the service has placed a limited series order to DMZ , an adaptation of the comic book series by DC by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli.

Initially ordered as a pilot in October 2019, the series DMZ four-part series unfolds during a second American civil war that leaves Manhattan as a demilitarized zone (DMZ), destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world. Rosario Dawson (Marvel’s Luke Cage) plays the brave and fierce doctor Alma Ortega, who sets out on a harrowing journey to find the son he lost at the start of the war. Meanwhile, Parco Delgado (Benjamin Bratt from Star), the popular and deadly leader of a powerful gang in the DMZHe wants to rule this new world, and he will stop at nothing to ensure that result.

Throughout the series, « Alma must deal with the gangs, militias, demagogues and warlords who control this lawless no man’s land, » says the logline. « In doing so, he becomes the unlikely source of what everyone here has lost: hope. »

Roberto Patino (Westworld, Sons of Anarchy ) will act as showrunner and executive producer with Ava DuVernay (When They See Us); DuVernay he also directed the pilot episode. The cast also includes Hoon Lee (Banshee), Freddy Miyares (When They See Us) and Jordan Preston Carter (The Haves and the Have Nots).
