As maybe you already know, HBO is developing a series based on The last of us next to Neil Druckmann, game director, and Craig Mazin, creator of the acclaimed mini-series, Chernobyl. It had been a long time since we had news about the project, but now we finally have something, since the American chain already gave the green light to production.

As reported The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has officially approved the project, so we will soon begin to know more details about the cast, plot, episodes and more. So far, all that is known is that it will be based on the first game, and both Ellie as Joel will appear in the series. Outside of that, the studio is locking everything up.

Sony Pictures TV, PlayStation Productions, Word Games and Naughty Dog they are also behind the production, so we can anticipate a quality product and above all, faithful to the original work of its developers. In fact, it is said that the series will seek to improve the story of the games, and not just tell an alternate or parallel narrative to the one we already know.
