MIAMI (AP) – Bryce Harper hit a home run and a double and hit base five times as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins 12-6 on Saturday night.
Harper, who came off a 10-1 pothole, added a single and got a pair of walks. Philadelphia tied its seven-game series with Miami 2-2 for now.
Didi Gregorius hit his seventh career grand slam, while Kyle Garlick hit the key hit on a five-touchdown offense, a double that cleared the bases in the eighth inning.
Gregorius gave the Phillies the early lead with his cannonball in the first inning. The Curaçao found a slider from Dominican starter José Ureña (0-1) and sent the ball over the right-field fence for his seventh home run of the season.
Harper extended the lead to 5-0 with a fire that started the third inning.
Phillies starter Spencer Howard walked away with a stiff right shoulder problem after allowing Brian Anderson’s three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Heath Hembree (3-0) relieved Howard and resolved one and a third innings. Adam Morgan was the Phillies’ fifth reliever and went through the ninth inning, not conceding a touchdown.
For the Phillies, Jean Segura 5-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.
For the Marlins, Starling Marte 4-0. The Dominican Jesús Aguilar 4-3 with three runs scored and one RBI, Miguel Rojas 2-1. Puerto Rican Isan Díaz 4-0. Colombian Jorge Alfaro 4-1.
