The drivers of the Mercedes AMG team, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, set the best times in the second free test session of the Italian GP. The ‘Black Arrows’ are literally flying at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

With a time of 1: 20.192, British driver Lewis Hamilton edged his teammate, Finn Valtteri Bottas, by 0.262s. In this way the message is clear for their rivals and what awaits them for this weekend.

McLaren’s Lando Norris finished in third place at 0.897s. This result shows that the Renault power unit also has to achieve good results this weekend. His teammate Carlos Sainz finished sixth.

Honda also had an outstanding performance this afternoon at Monza with AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly in fourth place, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in fifth and AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat in fifth.

The Racing Points of Lance Stroll and Sergio Pérez finished these tests in eighth and tenth place, although it seems that the RP20 has a better rhythm in the ‘temple of speed’.

Esteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo of Renault may be in the same conditions at Racing Point. The French and Australian finished in eleventh and fifteenth places. It should be remembered that in the past Belgian GP, they finished in fourth and fifth place, on a circuit with similar characteristics to this one.

Ferrari had a slight improvement with Charles Leclerc in ninth place and Sebastian Vettel in twelfth. We will see if that is the trend or on the contrary, just a mirage in his Grand Prix at home. They both had track starts at Lesmo 1. In the case of the German it was a spin but fortunately for him there was no damage to the car.

Alfa Romeo’s Italian Antonio Giovinazzi achieved the thirteenth time, while his teammate Kimi Räikkönen finished seventeenth. Red Bull’s Alex Albon of Thailand ranked fourteenth.

Haas drivers Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean finished in 16th and 18th time, while Williams drivers Nicholas Latifi and George Russell were last.

The race direction eliminated several lap times in turns 5 and 11 for exceeding the limits of the track. In this case, not only the record of the turn in question is lost, but also that of the next turn.

This session has also served to test the three tire compounds for the weekend, which are: C2 hard, C3 medium and C4 soft.

In moments the report of the session.

Tomorrow at 12:00 pm in Monza the third and last free testing session will begin and later at 3:00 pm the classification of the Italian Grand Prix with LIVE broadcast from F1Latam.com.
