Government of Panama will lift quarantine for weekends on March 6

The Government of Panama announced on Friday that as of March 6, the total quarantine decreed during the weekends will be lifted, to reverse the boom in cases of Covid-19.

« As of March 6: The total quarantine measure is lifted on weekends at 4:00 a.m. (09:00 GMT), » the Ministry of Health reported on its Twitter account, where it added night curfews will persist.

Starting next Monday, establishments such as gyms at half their capacity, and massage, beauty and spa rooms by appointment, will be able to reopen in the provinces of Panama and Panama Oeste.

The health authorities of Panama warned that the opening of the activities will depend on the behavior of the health indicators and the biosafety guidelines established by the Government.

In fact, the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, announced that a five percent increase is expected in infections of Covid-19 for the behavior of the population on Shrove Tuesday.

Panama began on January 20 the process of immunization of the population with the Vaccines Pfizer, developed in the United States, of which the Government expects to receive 450,000 doses in the first quarter of 2021.
