Google announces new Maps applications for Apple Watch and Apple Carplay, bringing one of its flagship services also to Apple’s wearable and car environments
Google Maps returns to Apple Watch, and the joy of most users of Apple’s wearables platform has overflowed after three years waiting for Google to fulfill its promise.
The Mountain View Giant had withdrawn its app for Apple’s smartwatch in 2017, without too many details or convincing explanations for users who lost access to the most used map service on the planet at a stroke.
Be that as it may, Google had said that the measure would be temporary and three years later it has fulfilled its promise, updating not only Maps for Apple Watch but also for Carplay service built into most of today’s cars.
The new Google Maps app for the Apple Watch includes turn-by-turn navigation for saved places, like our home or work, and thanks to the larger screens and better resolution of the most modern models of the Apple Watch it will be easier to navigate by following Google’s instructions.

Also, as the 91Mobiles colleagues told us, the search giant will also integrate Maps into Apple Carplay, with a new specifically designed application that will display a split screen view with navigation on one side and controls like music playback or calendar appointments on the other side.
The new Google Maps apps for Apple’s wearable and automotive environments will be available from today in the second case, and in a few weeks for the watches. You will have to keep waiting if you have an Apple Watch, but at least now there is light at the end of the tunnel …
