Jesús Sánchez and Valentina Vázquez finished in first and third places in their respective compound and recurve bow events, in the fourth and final stage of the World Archery Online Series organized by World Archery.
Sánchez prevailed with a round of 600 points and was the second perfect of the series, since the American Dave Cousins had reached that figure last December during stage two of the series.
The second place went to the Korean Choi Yonghee, who totaled 598, followed by the Canadian Christopher Perkins, with 597.
I’m happy to shoot perfectly on this last stage, too much work has been done and it was a wonderful day. My shots were great and my technique has come out according to what has been worked in training, said Sánchez in an interview for the Indoor Archery World Series Site.
He added that having organized this covered series was excellent, after other competitions were canceled due to the Covid-19 contingency. This was the best way to keep motivated and training.
In women’s recurve, Vázquez settled in third position with 589 units, the same amount achieved by the Dutch Gabriela Schloesser, both were three behind the American winner Casey Kaufhold. Among the 593 competitors, Alejandra Valencia (585) finished in eighth, Ana Paula Vázquez (580), step 14 and Mariana Avitia (565), 46.
In the men’s branch, out of a thousand 14 contestants, Luis Álvarez (585) ranked 33rd, Ángel Alvarado (581) 46 and Ernesto Boardman (566) 109.
The remote series was held to provide an opportunity to compete and aspire to something for the past four months.
