It seems that in 2021 we will continue to see digital presentations. After in 2020 the Game Developers Conference, or GDC, was one of the first events to be canceled by COVID-19, there were plans to hold a hybrid conference for this year’s edition. Nevertheless, today it has been confirmed that there are no plans for some kind of face-to-face ceremony.

Through a statement, GDC organizers have confirmed that this year’s edition will be held fully digital. In this way, plans for a face-to-face meeting at the Moscone Center in San Francisco have been scrapped. Outside of this detail, the event continues to take place between July 19 and 23, 2021.

This was what was commented on the matter:

“While we are looking forward to meeting in the halls of Moscone again, and this year we considered a face-to-face component, we have decided that it is more important that our speakers, attendees and sponsors are able to plan ahead, to continue to be as safe as possible and dedicate our attention to providing the best GDC possible ”.

Fortunately, this is not all, as Between March 15 and 19, the GDC Showcase, a free digital event with featured lectures, will take place, question and answer sections with developers, interactive panels and live podcasts.

Remember that E3 2021, the great event of the year, was also canceled in 2020, and this time a series of digital presentations will be held in June. You can learn more about this event here.
