France to allow music festivals and concerts again this summer despite the pandemic, as long as the capacity is limited to 5,000 people and that they remain seated and away from each other, reports the local press.
The Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot, confirmed in a meeting with festival organizers and representatives of the sector that these events may be held during the summer of 2021, but respecting a strict protocol, after a year in which there were hardly any musical encounters with the public.
In addition, Bachelot announced the launch of an economic fund of 30 million euros to help festivals, reserved for those who are forced to modify or cancel their programs.
It is a first measure that will follow another series of aid that will be announced soon, according to what some of the meeting participants announced in the French press, who specified that the conditions for this moderate return are still unclear.
France still faces a high peak of the pandemic
France registered 22,501 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 271 deaths in hospitals this Thursday, which made the Government emphasize that the time has not yet come to relax its restrictions.
These measures include the curfew from six in the afternoon to six in the morning and the closing of bars, gyms, cinemas and museums, which has been going on since the end of October.
In addition, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced today that 36 percent of the positive cases analyzed correspond to the British variant, and 5 percent to the Brazilian or South African, more contagious than the traditional variant.
