The rumor comes true. Apple today unveiled its new fourth generation iPad Air, which represents another step in the evolution of this range of tablets. As predicted, this new iPad Air adopts the look and feel of today’s iPad Pro by ditching the Home button and reducing its borders.
4th generation iPad Air: A14 Bionic chip, Touch ID and Pro accessory compatibility
Finally the iPad Air 4 has the A14 Bionic chip, manufactured in 5 nanometer architecture as we have already been saying with the rumors. It has 6 cores and a 40% increase in power compared to the previous iPad Air. Graphics performance is improved by 30% and a Neural Engine capable of 11.8 billion operations per second is included, so overall performance increases substantially.
We have a 12 megapixel single lens camera (dual lens and LiDAR sensor reserved for iPad Pro), and yes: Touch ID built into the lock button as the rumors said. The 10.9-inch screen is Liquid Retina and the front camera is 7 megapixels. Placed in wide mode, the iPad Air 4’s speakers offer stereo sound.
Having the same design as the iPad Pro, this new iPad Air can be used with the Magic Keyboard. There are no specific models, it works the same as you can buy for the iPad Pro; and of course we also have compatibility with Apple Pencil 2. And yes, we also have a USB-C port that ends with the Lightning port. Charging is done with a 20W adapter that is included.
The new iPad is available in five colors: Space Gray, Silver, Rose Gold, Green and Sky Blue. There are 64GB and 256GB storage and optional LTE connectivity in addition to Wi-Fi 6, and prices start at 649 euros. It can already be reserved on the website or official Apple applications. Both this iPad and the 8th generation iPad will already come with iPadOS 14 pre-installed.
