On the morning of Wednesday, November 18, farmers from the village of La Caucasia, in the township of Teteyé, municipality of Puerto Asís, Putumayo, coca growers recorded on video the confrontation they had with members of the Anti-Narcotics Police.
The peasants allegedly blocked the passage of a group of soldiers, whose function was to eradicate coca leaf crops in the area. Apparently from a helicopter the Army fired rubber bullets at the peasants to disperse them while they opposed the forced eradication of illicit crops.
This is how the confrontation of the uniformed men against the peasants of Puerto Asís was recorded in a video:

After the events occurred, the authorities did not report any deaths or injuries from the confrontation. However, the deputy to the Assembly of Putumayo, Andrés Cancimance, assured that the community is between a rock and a hard place, considering that illegal armed groups are also putting pressure on the peasants for the problem of eradication:
We have witnessed how the peasantry who comes out and resists are attacked voluntarily or because they are forced by mafia structures that control the territory to prevent coca from being uprooted
These events led to the development of a security council in which the departmental government learned of several complaints from eradicators in the south of Puerto Asís. According to the Secretary of the Putumayo Government, Sandra Dimas, the facts must be reviewed to determine if any abuse was committed against the coca growers:
Apparently there was a violation with these peasants, which at this time are facts that are the subject of investigation
Although there are voluntary crop substitution agreements in Colombia, this is not the first time that disputes have arisen between the peasantry and the public force, for which the peasant community has repeatedly demanded the presence of humanitarian organizations and human rights defenders .
