First trailer of ‘Final Duel’, the film by Ridley Scott that brings together Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

We can now take a look at the first official trailer of ‘Final Duel’ (‘The Last Duel’), the long-awaited next film by Ridley Scott that will bring together two great friends: Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Both actors rose to fame twenty-four years ago with ‘The Indomitable Will Hunting’, a film they starred in and wrote, finally winning the Oscar for best original screenplay in 1998.

Now a few years later the two actors meet again in this film directed by Ridley Scott based on a true story. These two interpreters, in addition to starring in the film, again collaborate together in the writing of the script with Nicole Holofcener, scriptwriter of films such as ‘Can you forgive me someday?’. Along with Damon and Affleck, the film features a cast including Jodie Comer (seen in ‘Killing Eve’) and Adam Driver.

The latter will also star in ‘House of Gucci’, the another film that Ridley Scott is planning to release this year as well. This film will once again have a large luxury cast, which includes the singer Lady Gaga and actors such as Al Pacino and Jared Leto.

Synopsis and release date

‘Final duel’ is based on real events and tells the story of two French gentlemen: Jean de Carrouges (Damon) and Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver), who go from having a friendly relationship to fighting each other when the first accuses the second of having raped his wife Marguerite (played by Jodie Comer), after she first publicly accused him. This fact provokes that final duel that gives the film its title between both characters, putting both their lives and Marguerite’s at stake. Ben Affleck plays Count Pierre d’Alençon, in a supporting role.

The film reaches Spanish theaters next October 15.
