Fines for parking in prohibited places

One of the great fears and mistakes that many of us have when driving on the streets is that when it is time to stop and we have to leave our car parked, we do not check if it is allowed to leave the car for a few moments in the place, and that is when we return that We find a ticket on the windshield, the spider or the car is simply no longer there because it was taken to the corrarón, when we realize that we committed an infraction of the traffic regulations.

For this reason, to make things easier for you, in Attraction we took on the task of specifying which are the areas where you cannot leave your car and the fines that merit if you become careless about invading the forbidden places.

Article 11 of the CDMX Traffic Regulations specifies that you cannot park or make repairs to vehicles on public roads and if your car breaks down on the street you must immediately remove it from the roads, where it does not obstruct the passage .

The fine in this case is 2,689 pesos

On the other hand, Article 13 establishes that you cannot leave your car in places where explicitly signs indicate that parking or stopping in a prohibited place is prohibited.

Regarding Article 29, it indicates that when parking or occupying the public road, it must be done momentarily, provisionally or temporarily, without affecting the movement of pedestrians and vehicle circulation, or obstructing the entrance or exit of a garage .

In areas where there are charging systems for parking on public roads, the driver of a vehicle with license plates for people with disabilities has preference in the use of available spaces.

When parking a motorized vehicle on public roads, drivers must observe the following provisions:

The vehicle must be oriented in the direction of traffic

In urban areas, it should be less than 30 centimeters from the limit of the vehicular stream

In suburban areas, the vehicle must be at least one meter off the running surface

When the vehicle is parked on a downward slope, in addition to applying the parking brake, the front wheels must be directed towards the curb

When the vehicle is on an uphill grade, its front wheels will reverse to the curb

When a vehicle, weighing more than three tons, is parked on slopes, appropriate chocks must be placed on the rear wheels.

If you do not comply with the provisions of this article, you will be fined 1,793 pesos.

Now, regarding Article 30, it indicates that parking any vehicle is prohibited:

In special service spaces for the ascent and descent of passengers when the stay of the vehicle exceeds the time indicated in the road signs, except in the case of passengers with disabilities or limited mobility, in the opposite direction to traffic, or when vehicles are parked in places authorized for this purpose, and the fee determined for its use is not covered. In addition, if it is vehicles with foreign plates, the additional car of the fine will be immobilized

The fine for doing so is 896 pesos

This same article indicates that you cannot park in circulation areas, entrances and exits of stations and terminals of collective public transport, taxi places, as well as in areas of ascent and descent of public transport passage.

In the exclusive, confined and / or priority lanes of public transport.

Neither in exclusive parking spaces for people with disabilities, duly identified by markings on the pavement, garnish and vertical informative signs, except for those vehicles that have license plates for people with disabilities and vehicles that carry out the ascent or descent of people with disabilities. for a maximum stay of 20 minutes.

The fine in this case is 2,689 pesos.

Likewise, this article establishes that you cannot leave your car on pedestrian paths, especially sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, as well as exclusive cycle paths, for this it is sufficient that any part of the vehicle is on these spaces, or on primary roads.

Neither on or under any bridge or elevated structure of a public road or inside a tunnel.

Neither against:

Banking establishments

Fire hydrants for use by firefighters

Emergency vehicle entrances and exits

Entrances or exits of public parking lots and gas stations

Pedestrian or vehicular accesses and emergency exits of schools and other mass concentration centers determined by the Secretariat

Pedestrian ramps

Vehicle ramps for access to garages, except in the case of the driver’s own home, as long as the sidewalk, pedestrian traffic, parking spaces, or restricted parking areas are not invaded

In pedestrian entrances and exits of hospital facilities or health centers

Neither in places where the visibility of road signs is obstructed, on the roads in double or more rows, in battery (with the exception of bicycles and motorcycles or if a signal allows it).

In a section less than:

Seven and a half meters from the garrison of the cross track

Six meters from the entrance of a fire station and emergency vehicles; and in a space of 25 meters on each side of the entrance axis on the sidewalk opposite it

Nor can you park on roads with no more than two lanes and two-way traffic, in a section less than:

Neither in the opposite direction to the traffic, in the exclusive boxes duly authorized and that have blue markings that indicate it, unless it is the vehicle for which these spaces are destined, in cycling routes, such as bicycle lanes and cycle lanes , with the exception of non-motorized vehicles for which these spaces are destined, in the traffic lanes in front of public bicycle cycle stations and short-stay bi-parking lots that are located in the parking strip, with the exception of vehicles destined for the operation of the public bicycle system, as long as they are in service or in the other places that the Secretariat and Citizen Security determine.

Neither in spaces for special services authorized by the Secretariat or any other site indicated by the corresponding road signs, when this is not its purpose.

In special service spaces for the ascent and descent of passengers when the stay of the vehicle exceeds the time indicated on the road signs, except in the case of passengers with disabilities or limited mobility.

Where there is restrictive signage or the sidewalk trim or pavement markings are yellow indicating the area where parking is prohibited.

On the left side of the road when there are central, lateral or island ridges, as well as in roundabouts, unless the markings on the pavement and the signs allow it.

If you do not comply with the provisions in these last cases, you will be fined 1,793 pesos.

You should know that in addition to the fine indicated for parking in prohibited places, if there is not immediately a tow truck to send the car to the depot and the agents have immobilizers, they will use them.

More than two hours after the vehicle has been immobilized, if the interested party has not paid the fine and leaves the place, it will be sent to the corresponding deposit, having to cover the rights for the drag.
