Fernando Alonso once again demonstrated his great level as a driver this weekend, facilitating the victory for Frenchman Esteban Ocon, his teammate at Alpine, in the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Spaniard managed to retain Lewis Hamilton, who was unable to overcome him despite having a much faster car, serving Ocon the victory on a platter. In fact, the Briton admitted after the race that Alonso had been “hell.”
“Alonso was hell. Looking back, it was amazing, really, really, it was fantastic. I wish the cars could be followed more closely and I’m excited about what the cars will be like next year, ”said Hamilton.
“It is a really difficult circuit to overtake in general and to follow the car in front, particularly in the latter sector, but we had some great wheel-to-wheel battles. It literally went wheel-to-wheel at least once and I really don’t have much more to say about it. When you compete against a two-time world champion, he is probably one of the toughest drivers, but also clean. Although today I would say that it was a little over the limit, “he added.
After all this, Esteban Ocon wanted to have a detail with Alonso, whose birthday was only a few days ago, and has given him a remote-controlled car called, precisely, “inferno”, in reference to the words of Hamilton.
Ocon has uploaded his conversation with Alonso on WhatsApp to Instagram, in which you can see how the Asturian thanks him for the detail. In addition, in that screenshot you can see another curious detail: the profile photo that the Asturian has in the application, a kind of drawing or caricature of himself and that has not gone unnoticed by the most observers:
