An allegedly drunk teenager crashed his car in Rockland County (NY) causing the death of a 16-year-old girl and several other injuries.
Jacqueline Zangrilli was killed Saturday in the brutal crash on Route 202 in Montebello (39 miles north of NYC), which also injured the 17-year-old driver and three other teenage passengers, ABC News reported.
The driver, who was not identified as a minor, was allegedly driving speeding in a 2003 Jaguar sedan when he lost control and hit a utility pole, according to the police report. Then it was accused of murder, vehicular assault and drunk driving.
Police were seeking to determine where the teens were prior to the fatal accident and who gave them alcohol. “Jacqueline was special in many ways,” commented a GoFundMe page created for the victim’s family that has already exceeded $ 120,000. “She was an amazing daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend.”
The five teens inside the car were identified as “Suffern High School” students. The principal sent a letter to the school community notifying them of the accident.
“I am deeply saddened to notify you that we were informed early this morning of a tragic car accident on Route 202 affecting five Suffern High School students, which involved one death,” wrote Principal Patrick Breen.
