Everything you need to know about the ‘Final Four’ of the League of Nations that Spain will play

Spain will play for the first time in its history the Final Four of the League of Nations. The win against Germany allows Luis Enrique’s men to opt for the title that Portugal won in the first edition of the tournament.

It will be played in October 2021

The dates of the UEFA Nations League finals were confirmed at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in September. The semifinals will be played on October 6 and 7, 2021 and the final and the match for third place will be played on October 10.

France, confirmed rival

The first team to seal their ticket in the final phase was France. The Deschamps team beat Portugal thanks to a goal from Kanté and confirmed their first place in the group.

This Wednesday the selection of Italy hopes not to fail against eliminated Bosnia and Herzegovina to become a finalist. In the event of a puncture, the Netherlands and Poland await their chance. The fourth contender for the title will come out of the group 2 champion. Belgium is worth a draw against Denmark at home to join the Final Four. A Danish victory would give them the ticket.

Everything points to Italy as headquarters

Although it is not yet confirmed, three federations with teams in Group A declared their interest to host the Final Four of the tournament: Italy, Holland and Poland. If Italy lives up to the predictions, it will almost certainly be designated as the host of the finals.

Portugal, current champion

In the tournament’s first edition, hosts Portugal beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the first final in the history of the UEFA Nations League, played in Porto on 9 June 2019. A goal by Gonçalo Guedes in the 60th minute after a Powerful shot that Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen could not clear was enough for the reigning European champions to win.
