On Friday, the government announced the Covid Christmas Bonus in order to face the impact of the pandemic on the employment situation of people in those communes hardest hit by the pandemic.

As detailed by the Minister of Social Development and Family, Karla Rubilar, the benefit sIt will be received by all those who received the sixth payment of the Emergency Family Income (IFE). Of course, the aids are exclusive, they are not added.

The government estimates that with this payment they will benefit 3,350,000 thousand homes and will reach up to 8,200,000 people, approximately.

In this item there are two different amounts. The first is from $ 55,000 pesos for each member of the household located in a commune that spent at least one day in step 1 of the Step by Step Plan (that is, total quarantine), during the last week of November. The amount It does not have a limit for the number of members in the household, and it is not decreasing.

One detail is that the address must appear in the social registry of households, a situation that should be covered if it actually receives the sixth payment from the IFE, Rubilar said.

Example: a five-person household that is located in a commune in phase 1 receives $ 275,000 thousand pesos.

On the other hand, the second amount is $ 25,000 pesos. This will also be paid for each member of the household located in communes in steps 2, 3, and 4. And just like the previous one, It does not have a limit on the number of members and it is not decreasing either.

Example: a five-person household that is located in a commune in phase 2 receives 125,000 thousand pesos.

Due to the requirement to spend at least one day in phase 1 of the Step by Step plan during the last week of November, the amount of 55,000 will be will pay mainly, in communes of southern Chile.

In the Bio Bio region it corresponds to the communes of Coronel, Cañete and Lota.

In the Araucanía region, the bonus will go up to Father Las Casas, Cholchol, Temuco, Freire, Lautaro and Traiguén.

Meanwhile, in the Los Ríos region it will be paid in Futrono, La Unión, Los Lagos, Valdivia, Valdivia and Lago Ranco.

In the Los Lagos region, the benefited communes are Ancud, Calbuco, Chonchi, Los Muermos, Puerto Montt, Osorno, Puqueldón, Queilén, Quemchi, Maullín and Hualaihué.

Finally, in the region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, the benefit comes Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas.
