Eurovision 2021: Anxhela Peristeri represents Albania with “Karma”

« Karma » is the song chosen by Albania to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Performed by artist Anxhela Peristeri, the song is defined with an ethnopop sound in which the singer demonstrates her vocal skills. Peristeri passed the Albanian pre-selection process, not repeating the country this year with its 2020 representative, Arilena Ara with the song « Fall From the Sky ».

Anxhela Peristeri managed to win the 59th Festivali i Këngës, the preselection of Albania. The singer prevailed over the favorite, Inis Neziri, who performed with a traditional ballad called « Pendesë ». The final of the selection process dueled 18 finalists who managed to overcome the semifinals. A professional jury was in charge of determining who would represent the country, without opinion or votes from the audience in between.. Albania will participate in the first semifinal of the contest, which will be held on May 18, 20 and 22 in the Dutch city of Rotterdam.

Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest

Albania will try to get with Anxhela Peristeri and her « Karma » his first victory in the contest, having never won to date. His best position would come in 2012 with the emotional and original « Suus », performed by Rona Nishliu. With this proposal, the country achieved a meritorious fifth position. In 2019, the last year the festival was held, Jonida Maliqi made it to the final with her song « Ktheju tokës », finally finishing in seventeenth place.
