ERC has asked the Ministry of the Interior of the Generalitat « an agile and diligent investigation » to clarify if there have been cases of possible bad practices in the actions of the Mossos d’Esquadra during the mobilizations for the imprisonment of the singer Pablo Hasel.
The ERC Deputy Secretary General for Rights, Freedoms and the Anti-Repressive Struggle, Marta Vilaret, stressed that « the right to demonstrate must always be guaranteed », and that the police must act proportionally and following protocols.
« If this is not the case, police actions have to be reviewed as quickly as possible in order, if necessary, to clarify responsibilities so as not to question the professionalism » of the entire body, he said.
On the other hand, the deputy general secretary and ERC spokesperson, Marta Vilalta, has demanded consensus in the Parliament to agree on a public order model for Catalonia: « In the meantime, all those actions that we believe are not to the liking must be investigated » .
« There is still a lot of work to do, to be able to update the security model and be vigilant in some of the actions that we would not want to take place, » he stated in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio collected by Europa Press.
