We all know the strategy of Konami, a Japanese company that in recent years has decided to stray a bit from video game development. This is something unfortunate for lovers of this hobby, since the company has very important intellectual properties that for that reason have not had a new game in years. Among the list of franchises that fans fondly remember is the JRPG Suikoden, the last installment of which came in 2012 for the PlayStation Protable. The good news is that although Konami seems to have no plans to bring her back, developers who participated in its creation are working on a spiritual successor: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and have already secured the necessary funding.
The campaign to make Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes a reality was launched today, July 27 through Kickstarter. Fans want both a game and Suikoden that the promise of a title with some key stewards in its making has been highly appealing and their funding campaign surpassed their original goal of $ 509,713 in about 2 hours.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is coming to the new generation of consoles
This ensured that the project will come true and will be released on PC with an estimated launch for October 2022. However, like other Kickstarter projects, the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes funding campaign has several unlockable goals and fans They already managed to unlock 4, after raising just over $ 1,275 MDD in less than 12 hours, which ensured several additions, such as modes and 1 extra minigame. Among the rewards is the port for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We will also work on a version for the following Nintendo console, which is similar in power to other systems. This decision was made this way because making the port for Nintendo Switch would require more resources.
The financing campaign will be active until August 28 of this year, so there is still time to unlock more goals. So far, the only one known is that of the $ 1.5 MDD, with which the New Game Plus will be added, but it is expected that more will appear as the existing ones are unlocked. Players will be able to contribute different amounts of money, with which they can claim various rewards. These include digital or physical versions of the game, special editions with multiple collectibles, and so on.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will be developed by creators of Suikoden
This project is powerfully attracting attention not only because many are fans of this Suikoden series title playing style, but also because it has talent behind the original games. One of those involved is Yoshitaka Murayama, co-creator of the Suikoden franchise and who will be in charge of directing the project. Renowned character designer for the series Junko Kawano (Suikoden I, Suikoden IV) will also be part of the development.
Junichi Murakami is another important artist (he has worked in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and The Sword of Etheria) who has been present in the industry for several years and will also work in Eiyuden Chronicle, as well as Osamu Komuta, who will hold a position as director. Interestingly, the development team will be supported by Koji Igarashi (a creative recognized for his work at Castlevania), who knows and has worked with those involved.
According to the creators of the project, they proposed the game to various distributors, but although they believed it was interesting, they did not have enough confidence that a game with pixel graphics would be successful in the market, which is why they decided to look for the fan support.
What is Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes?
This title promises to be a JRPG proposal for new generations. This is not a negative thing, but will try to reach new players through the classic RPG style with character development that will form a team and fight enemies. The story is fantasy and will star the 2 young Nowa and Kesling, who live in a land that has been forged by battles between humans, beastmen and elves. Fate caused a war to break out and will make both young men wonder about their thinking of right and wrong. The plot will be borne by Murayama.
