Kingdom Hearts is one of the most popular video game sagas among RPG fans, especially since it managed to unite the world of Disney with the aesthetics of Japanese RPGs. The franchise is famous the world over and while not going through its peak in popularity, it is extremely famous among fans of Square Enix RPGs.

Maybe that’s why, a strong rumor indicates that Disney has already started work on a series based on the franchise, which would be one more Disney + exclusive. According to two different versions the series is already underway, albeit at an early stage.

Pop culture influencer Jeremy Conrad posted the following tweet to his personal Twitter account, hinting that the series’ rumors are real:

“Yes it’s correct”.

Soon after, Skyler Shuler editor-in-chief of The DisInsider, corroborated the information and stated that It is a series made with CGI, and that the same voice actors of video games will participate. He also added that he does not know how they will use the characters from Final Fantasy, nor the history of the series. In addition, he said that he has not yet hired a studio to perform the animation, so it would still take time to launch the series.

“Here’s what I know: Kingdom Hearts will be a Disney + series, not a movie. It will be animated (CGI). Disney actors are expected to reprise their roles (Jim Cummings, Bill Farmer, Tony Anselmo). It is all that I know.”

As expected, Kingdom Hearts fans are freaking out, and they are bombarding the official Disney + and Square Enix networks looking to confirm the news.

Fans believe the animated series could fill the storyline gaps that Kingdom Hearts III left, pending confirmation of a Kingdom Hearts IV. But nothing is official yet.

Would you like to see a CGI animation made by a North American department of Disney? Do you think they will be able to maintain the atmosphere made by Square Enix?
