Finetwork Gijón and Unión Financiera Oviedo will play tonight (Palacio de los Deportes, 8 pm) a regional derby at the top of the table and behind closed doors. The people from Oviedo arrive after suffering a stumble on their court against the University of León, which snatched second place. Despite this setback, the team from the capital is the favorite because it has a squad made to fight for promotion, but the youngsters of Finetwork Gijón are in a great moment, which has led them to be leaders of the group and the most scorer of the entire First division.

The advantage of the locals is that they will face the game without any pressure, quite the opposite of Unión Financiera, which cannot afford a second defeat if it wants to continue at the top of the table. For Ángel Gulín, Finetwork Gijón coach, “the favorites are clearly them, but we want to maintain the dynamics that have led us to be leaders”. The Gijon coach believes that the Oviedo can feel the pressure of coming from a draw and a consecutive defeat: “They are going to push harder because they will not want to continue losing points, not because they will have qualifying problems, but more than anything because of the feelings” .

Gulín warns his team of the danger that it will entail “losing balls in attack because that will mean easy setbacks for them.” And he hopes his players are doing well on the defensive side “because the Financial Union, in addition to a great defense, has great offensive potential with Ortega and Huerta at the ends, Toldo and Zapico as pitchers, in addition to Echevarría, Maxi or Sedano. They have a very complete team and you have to defend very well ”.

Coach and players agree that “it is a pity that the game has to be played without an audience because with the two teams up as we are going, surely there would be a lot of people in the Palace.”
