Demon’s Souls is being one of the best received games of 2020 and, without a doubt, a central part of its charm lies in its difficulty. That said, at some point there was a chance that this remake had an easy mode.
Recently, Gavin Moore, creative director of Demon’s Souls, had the opportunity to chat with The Washington Post about its launch. One of the points that was touched was the difficulty and the possibility that this remake delivered an easier mode.

It was there that Moore acknowledged that at some point they talked about the possibility of delivering an easy mode that would allow the Demon’s Souls remake to be more accessible than its original version. That said, in the end they decided it was best not to implement it.
“While we considered and discussed an easy way, in the end we decided that it was not our role – as mere custodians of an amazing game – to add something that would fundamentally change its bottom line,” he said.
Moore explained that it was a decision made out of respect for FromSoftware’s work: “This project is a remake of the work of another development team. While we made some changes, our central mantra has always been to preserve the spirit and intent of the original creators. “
