“We hadn’t realized how much everyone liked him.” Wednesday September 16, 2020, the father of Bertrand-Kamal, candidate from Koh-Lanta, the 4 Lands, who died of pancreatic cancer on September 9, paid tribute to his deceased son in a long message published in the columns of Bien Public. A few days after the disappearance of the young adventurer, Denis Brogniart had also made a last farewell to his friend at the start of the program, concluded with a heart-rending “I love you”. Tuesday, September 15 in the afternoon, the family organized the funeral of the young man which ended with a silent walk in the streets of Mirebeau-sur-Bèze.

“We wanted to give you back the love we receive in this ordeal”

As revealed by the newspaper Bien Public, several tributes took place in the streets of the city. Many people close to Bertrand-Kamal, but also anonymous people, placed photo montages and messages of support for Samir and Annick, the parents of the adventurer, all around the cemetery. To which Bertrand-Kamal’s dad replied:

“We knew our son, Bertrand-Kamal well, but we had not realized how much he was appreciated by all. What a beautiful tribute he paid to him yesterday with all these people present to say a last goodbye to him and show him a final message of love. I wanted to thank all the people who sent us messages of support, who showed us their sympathy. All those who offered us their condolences for the painful loss of our son whom we love so much. I also thank the members of the production of ALP (…) but especially Denis Brogniart for his constant presence. I would particularly like to thank the members of the care team of the Center Georges François Leclerc (…) and his collaborators who followed our son with a lot of attention and listening. We are not social media specialists but we wanted to give you back the love we receive in this ordeal. Many thanks to all and thank you to the Public Good for sending you this message. “
