Cyberpunk 2077 can be enjoyed on next-gen consoles thanks to backward compatibility, but they don’t fully exploit its potential. That said, CD Projekt RED is already working on a native version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, but you will have to wait for it.
In a post on its website, CD Projekt RED talked about the future of Cyberpunk 2077. The first thing he made clear is that his priority is to work on patches that improve the experience and prevent users on consoles from having so much trouble.

That said, that doesn’t mean the next-gen version has already been forgotten. In fact, it is still in the pipeline and is expected to arrive sometime in the second half of 2021. Keep in mind that this update will be free for those who already own Cyberpunk 2077.
“For those who are playing the game on next-gen consoles via backward compatibility, we are planning for the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 to arrive this year. Our goal is for it to arrive in the second half of the year and we will reveal more when we have details to share, ”he explained.
You’ll also have to wait longer for the free DLC
Since CD Projekt RED is so focused on improving Cyberpunk 2077, some things had to be delayed as well. One of them was its free content.

Originally, the Polish studio promised that there would be free DLC such as The Witcher: Wild Hunt in early 2021. That said, they are now working on improving the game, so the downloadable content will come later.
The company promised it would give more details when they become available.
