Cuba reports 836 COVID-19 infections in one day and accumulates 46,197 confirmed cases

Cuba reported today 836 infections of the disease of the new
Coronavirus (COVID-19) in 24 hours, which accumulated 46,197 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in the country in March last year, as well as four other deaths in one day to add 304 deaths, reported the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap).

According to the Minsap report, among the infections confirmed by the authorities in one day, 824 corresponded to autochthonous cases and 12 to imported cases.

Regarding autochthonous infections, the highest incidence was in Havana with another 452 cases in one day, followed by the western provinces of Mayabeque with 87 and Pinar del Río with 57 infections.

The Minsap detailed in its report that so far 40,979 patients (88.7 percent) have also recovered from the disease, while 4,858 are active and there are 66 people in intensive care rooms, including 34 in critical condition and 32 serious.

The national director of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Minsap, Francisco Durán, referred in his daily report to the responsibility of family members, « who often do not comply with sanitary measures despite having elderly people at home. »
